How to Take Care of Your Chainsaw

A chainsaw is an important cutting tool that you can you for a wide range of activities. They include tree felling, bucking, pruning, harvesting firewood and many other jobs. How long it serves you and/or how best it does will depend on how well you take care of it. The following is a guide on how to take good care of your chainsaw.

The measures involved in taking care of a chainsaw are in three categories. There is the usage, cleaning, and maintenance. Each one of these is important to your Chain Saw Shack if it is to be efficient, effective, and for longer.

Usage

Most people use their chainsaws from http://thechainsawshack.com/ for a lot of wrong jobs, things which it was not designed for. For example you would find it being used to cut bigger limbs than it could actually handle. Each specific chainsaw is designed for specific jobs that would usually depend on the motor's horse power and the length of the bar. It is important you refer to the user manual of your chainsaw to establish the sizes it can handle.

Similarly, avoid trapping and binding the saw's bar which can happen when the wood piece being split collapses back into the already cut space. Where necessary, notch the bottom limb prior to cutting from the limb's top down.

Cleaning

After every usage, make sure you properly clean your chainsaw. Remove any sawdust on the exterior case of the saw that may have accumulated during use. Wipe the case and the bar using a piece of oily cloth to similarly remove the sawdust and particles of dust from the chainsaw. Maintenance

Your chainsaw's maintenance is one of the core areas that would determine its longevity, effectiveness and efficiency. Make sure it is always properly lubricated by checking the oil reservoir for the chain if it has enough oil before use and in middle of the usage. Deal with any loose components in your chainsaw that are often as a result of the saw's significant amount of vibration. Always replace worn out chains as they don't cut as they are supposed to, overheats the chain, bar and engine, and as a result may lead to damage. At least once in a year will be enough.

Storage of your saw is equally important, especially when you will not use it for long. Prepare it for storage by draining of any unused petro and oil mixture. Some of the fuel will be hard to drain as it will be already in the saw's system, start the saw's engine to run it out.
